| Abstract: | Li Yu is a comic writer. His comic devices include dramatic plotting, comic characters, "happy reunion" and a "comic" ending with a tragic beginning, and an "unpolishedly elegant" language style. The "silent stories" of his novels are in fact "silent comedies". |
