胡适治词的目的、方法与贡献

作为“新文化运动”的领袖人物，胡适的词学研究与传统的词学研究有着根本的不同。他的词学研究，原不是为了词学的“中兴”，而是为了适应当时“文学革命”的需要，为白话文学提供“历史材料的证明”。但是他的研究本身，由于使用了新的观念和新的方法，给千年词学带来了新的局面，提高了词的文学地位，扩大了词的社会影响，客观上导致了词学的“中兴”。胡适对词史的分期，对词人词作的评价，与他所持的进化论的文学史观和白话文学的标准是相统一的。评价胡适的词学研究，应该着眼于他的整个理论体系。

The purpose, method and contribution of Hu Shi's studying of Ci Poetry

As the leader of New Culture Movement, Hu Shi studied Ci poetry in a different way from traditional ones. He did not study it for its prosperity, but for meeting the need of ＂literary revolution＂ and providing ＂proof of historical material＂ to vernacular literature. As he used new ideas and new ways, his studying of Ci actually brought new situation to Ci poetry, whose status was improved and social impact extended, and there appeared prosperity in Ci. His division of Ci＇s historical stage and assessment of Ci writers was unified with his idea of evolution of literary and his standard of vernacular literature. Evaluation of his study on Ci should focus on his theoretical system, instead of some unimportant issues. This point and his views are unified.
