Identification with the Rule by Law in Contemporary China: Its Significance, Contents and Formation

The study of the general public's identification with rule by law has theoretical and practical significance in that it may provide a stable socio-psychological basis for legal construction.Identification with rule by law can be categorized into different types: instrumental identification and value identification in terms of the public's cognition of the functions of rule by law,compulsory identification and identification with power in terms of the public's relationship with law,and objective identification and subjective identification in terms the public's status in the construction of a legal system.The formation of the public's identification with rule by law in contemporary China has been brought about by the general public's personal experience of interests being protected by law,their awareness of the value of law and the comprehensive legal education.
