| Abstract: | Korea American Treaty of Amity and Commerce was the first unequal treaty Korea had signed with a Western power. The treaty forced Korea to adopt an open door policy and furthermore influenced the relations between China, Korea and Japan, which was a contributing factor of the disintegration of relation between the "suzerain" and "vassal state" in East Asia. |
