"凝视"下的图像--中国现代作家笔下的南洋

摘    要:因为有了文化上的优势心态,中国现代作家可以立于高点,"凝视"南洋,有选择性地"聚焦"南洋,他们笔下的南洋图像则正是经过他们"凝视"下"聚焦"而产生的必然结果.质言之,是中国现代作家强烈的文化优越心态构筑了足以让他们"凝视"南洋的平台,立于这高高的平台之上,中国现代作家必然会戴着中国文化的滤色镜,从主观的角度"选择性聚焦"南洋社会,书写自己笔下的南洋,从而营构出自己心目中的南洋图像.

Abstract:Due to their cultural superiority, modern Chinese writers tend to gaze at Nanyang as superior outsiders. Thus the images of Nanyang penned by them are the outcome of their particular selection of materials, their special perspective of observation and their subjective assumptions over the natives and the native culture of Nanyang. This paper argues that the images of Nanyang configured by modern Chinese writers are far from the true images of Nanyang but images uniquely penned by modern Chinese writer in their own ways which reflect their understandings of Nanyang through an obvious cultural superiority.
