| Abstract: | A marketplace was not only a trading place but also a regular administrative area during the Han Dynasty.The Empire made it a rule that the traders or merchants should live in the fixed area around the market if they dealt with their commercial affairs in the same place.On this ground,there formed a series of institutions which included the household registers and the official rank. |
