“新人文主义”与东南学风——以“学衡派”与“新文化派”思想论争为中心

五四时期的学派之争，更多地表现为文化观念的冲突。聚集于东南大学、以反五四新文化运动姿态出现的“学衡派”，持中西会通的文化理念、举新人文主义之大旗，与以北京大学为中心的“新文化派”展开了激烈的思想论争。这种以南北两所著名大学为阵地的不同思想间的论争，有利于中国文化与学术的健康发展及南北学风的互补。“学衡派”的新人文主义文化观及其教育实践活动对东南大学学风的形成产生了重要影响。

"New Humanism" and the Academic Style at Southeast University: On the Theoretical Debate between the "Xue-Heng" School and the "New Culture" School

The debates among academic schools during the ＂May 4th Movement＂ around 1919 represented the conflict in cultural concepts rather than in other aspects. The ＂Xue-Heng＂ School, originated in and centered by the then Southeast University and characterized by its opposition to the New Culture Movement, insisted on the understanding and communication between Chinese and Western cultures and advocated new humanism, and initiated heated discussions with the ＂New Culture＂ School represented by Peking University. Such debates on theories between the two prestigious universities in North and South China proved favorable to the healthy development of cultural and academic studies in China and to the mutual complementation of academic styles in different parts of the country. The cultural concept of the ＂Xue-Heng＂ School, i.e. , new humanism, together with its educational practice, had important impact on the shaping of the academic style at Southeast University.
