Wuyi University-a newly emerging university in Guangdong Province

Founded in 1985, Wuyi University, or Five-Cities University, Guangdong Province, is indeed among the newly emerging universities that have epitomized the very course of how to run these universities in medium-sized cities of the province. It is pointed out that its basic characteristics are "to develop the university by relying on donations both from the locality and from abroad" and the aim of running the university is "to orient its work to the needs of the locakity and to serve the grass-roots".
