浅谈语境与翻译

语境在交际活动中对意义的理解起着决定作用 ,在翻译过程中也是如此。语境分为语言语境和言语语境 ,在翻译过程中两者同时存在 ,共同制约着翻译。语境不但对词义的取向起着决定作用 ,而且还影响到译文对原文风格和人物性格的再现。译者应根据原文风格和人物身份等因素构成的语境 ,充分理解原文并把握原文特点 ,以图准确再现原文风格

Context and Translation

Context plays a decisive role for the understanding of meaning in activities of communication. It also plays this role in the process of translation. Contexts can be divided into two categories: linguistic contexts and verbal contexts. The two categories exist hand in hand in the process of translation. Together they condition this kind of work. Not only does context play a decisive role for understanding the orientation of the meaning of words, it also influences the reproduction of the style of the original work and the disposition of the characters in it. The translater should fully understand the original work and grasp its special features in accordance with its context that is formed by such factors as the style of the original work and the status of the characrters in it, so as to accurately reproduce the style of the original work.
