| 摘 要： | 典籍英译意义重大而又任重道远。两个《尚书》英译本的比较显示:熟悉原著是基础,理解经义是关键。要想提高典籍英译质量,除了英文造诣和翻译经验外,更需译者认真研读典籍文本,充分吸收前人典籍研究和翻译的成果,并加强与汉语典籍专家以及以英语为母语的学者的合作。

| Abstract: | It is both a significant and a demanding job to translate Chinese ancient classics into English.A comparison between two English versions of Shang Shu reveals that a careful study of the original text is the most important requisite for a successful rendering.A research-based translation is therefore proposed to the potential translators of Chinese classics,which involves a careful reading of the original texts,and a thorough investigation of the concerned literature including annotations through the ages and previous renderings of the texts.Also indispensable is a consultation with experts on Chinese classics and scholars whose mother tongue is English. |
