Xia Jingqu's Imprudent Discourse of a Wild Old Man reflects the gloomy mind of unsuccessful Taoist priests by portraying the character of Wen Suchen who is a super and complete man and obtains individual glory.The portrayal of Tian Youmou is helpful to the research of history of society and economy in rural areas in China.The author scolds Liu Bang to the most by the play of Yafu.As the writer of the novel,Xia Jingqu is a scholar rigidly adhering to Confucian principles and is full of the benevolence integrated with the character Wen Suchen.Some later comments on this novel also comply with the author and praise vigorously for Wen Suchen and Mrs.Shui by which to sale traditional Neo-Confucianism ideas.
