Marxism is the Holistic Visual Field of Social History--Dispute over "Fact" and "Theory" within English New Marxism and Its revelation

In this article, the author analyzes the debate on "fact" and "theory" between Thompson and Anderson, who are the members of English New Marxism, and discusses their mistakes in understanding the issue. What's more, the author shows the essence of the debate and presents an approach to avoid the debate. The author holds the view that the debate on "fact" and "theory" actually is a debate on the particular and the general, the concrete and the abstract, that it is the contradiction between two sides in a thing, and that the contradiction can't be unified unless it is placed in holistic visual field of Marxism which is based on practice.
