| Abstract: | Joyce's Dubliners is generally regarded as a realistic work. However, the extensive use of epiphany and symbolism, together with the pursuit of the peculiar and the commonplace on the part of the author, makes the short story all the different from its traditional counterparts, lending it a touch of modernism. It can be taken for granted that Dubliners alone would have secured Joyce in its own right a unique position in the history of short stories. |
