Development of Modern Science & Technology and Innovation of Marxist Philosophy

The breakthroughs in contemporary science & technology have greatly advanced the epistemological transformation in basic laws and categories of philosophy. Revolution in science & technology is essentially one in ideology. By the same token, the revolution in modern science & technology is one in productive forces. Thus Deng Xiaoping's Theory of Productive-force Level is an important development of Marxism. When science and technology turn means for material interests, they go beyond traditional values. The interaction between science & technology in practice and the reconstruction of ethics is, therefore, an important theme in developing contemporary philosophy, which aims, with renewed foundation and spirit of a universal ethics, to shelter human souls in an age of material desires.
