略论太虚佛学教育观及其当代价值

Tai Xu's view of Buddhist education and its contemporary values

Tai Xu,the eminent monk of Republic of China whose Buddhist studies and activities presented a magnificent sight,had profound thoughts on Buddhist education.According to him,＂education＂had been a topic of religious form in Buddhism.He advocated the idea of ＂adaptation to environment and creation of opportunities＂ and introduced the pedagogical principle of ＂sound combination of guidance and accomodation＂.His elaboration of ＂rationality＂ and ＂facts＂ is a typical representation of his theory.Moreover,his method of ＂integrating entity with function＂ constructs a three-level theoretical framework.Tai Xu＇s view of Buddhist education is still influential and applicable in the present context owing to his emphasis on practice.Research on it brings out valuable implications on the construction and development of contemporary Buddhist education.
