A Linguistic Approach to Liar Paradox:A Comparative Study with Other Four Approaches

This essay attempts to establish,by comparing with other four main approaches to the liars,the adequacy of the approach of non-well-grounded semantic reference.Taking the rough comparison of the five approaches'diagnosis status as a background,it advocates us to go back to language analysis in order to understand the liars,and makes two further clear comparisons,one on the meta-rules for creating new rules,one on the explanatory power to two important language phenomena and Yablo's paradox,so further establishes the advantages of the semantic reference approach over the other four.
