从圣经《旧约》诗集的三个汉译本看翻译标准

翻译中很多标准都对译本提出了"忠实"的要求。这种要求实际上是"忠实"标准在内容、语言和文体三个方面或三个层次的详细界说,与圣经翻译原则有内在的契合。圣经文学的经典地位要求圣经翻译也必须再现其文学价值。对圣经《旧约》诗集三个汉译本的文体对比分析发现,与其它两个译本相比,《和合本》内容忠实,语言通顺畅达,文辞古雅优美,基本上达到了严复所说的"信、达、雅"标准的较高要求,具有独立的翻译文学价值。

Translation Criteria as Expressed in Three Chinese Versions of The Old Testament

Many translation criteria call for the "fidelity" of the translation to its original.This actually involves three aspects of fidelity in terms of content,language and style,and fits inherently with the principles of Bible translation.The position of the Bible as a classic literary text demands the representation of its value in its translation.Through a comparison of three Chinese versions of The Old Testament,it can be found that Chinese Union Version is faithful in content,fluent and expressive in language and elegant in style compared with the other two versions.Chinese Union Version substantially achieves what Yan Fu calls "faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance",and is itself of significant value in the history of literary translation.
