Finding the Lost Self--Image of three women in Everyday Use

Alice Walker is one of the prominent American writers in American women's literature and black literature in 1950s-1960s.She advanced the theory of womanism,paying attention to the black women's discourse in the literature works.In her best-written short story Everyday Use (1913),the writer describes the conflict around the old quilts (the symbol of the black heritage or tradition),exploring the awakening of self-consciousness of the three heroines.It also embodies the theme of black women seeking for personalities and self-esteem in predicament.
