加勒比狂欢节起源于殖民种植园这个特殊的文化空间,在殖民者与被殖民者、种植园主与奴隶、秩序与混沌等多种对立因素之间的冲突、斗争、商讨和妥协中产生。对于加勒比作家来说,狂欢化是一种想象历史、重述历史、并赋予历史以新的意义和价值的一种方式。狂欢节(以及狂欢精神的其他许多方面)给加勒比作家提供了一种将大众变成人民,探索为自由而斗争、肯定自己道路的意义的工具。加勒比狂欢节既唤醒了来自世界不同地区的加勒比各族群的民族记忆和族裔身份意识,也促进了一种新的、混杂的本土身份意识的形成。

On the Carnival Spirit in Anglophone-caribbean Literature

Caribbean carnival, with its origin in a special cultural space, the colonial plantation, is a result of conflicting,struggling and negotiating between various opposing elements such as colonists and the colonized, masters and slaves,order and chao. To Caribbean writers,canival is a way of imaging and retelling histories and giving new meanings and values to them.Canival and its spirit lend Caribbean writers a tool to transform mass to people,to struggle for freedom and to affirm the way they taking for themselves.Caribbean canival not only recalls the memories and consciousness of identites of ethnic groups from various parts of the world, but also promotes a formation of a new creolizing consciousness of local identy.
