张謇与南通大学前身之一的南通医学专门学校

1912年张謇创办了我国最早的私立高等医学院校之一——南通医学专门学校(现在南通大学的前身之一),为社会培养了一批医务人才,为建立近代社会保障体系作了有益的贡献。他运用近代教育思想管理学校培养人才,他重视学生的品德修养和实践教育,他尊重知识、尊重人才,重视引进西方先进的医疗技术和设备,提出了“祈通中西,以宏慈善”医学教育思想。

Zhangjian and Medical Institute of Nantong--One of the Predecessors of Nantong University

In 1912,Zhangjian set up one of the earliest higher private medical colleges in China --- Medical Institute of Nantong (one of the processors of Nantong University), which cultivated a batch of medical talent and contributed to the establishment of the modern social security system in Nantong. He applied modern educational thought to school management and to training talent. He emphasized the moral cultivation and practical education of the students. He respected both knowledge and talented people. He also paid great attention to the introduction of the medical technology and equipment from the western countries, and put forward this thought of medical education: "to combine the Chinese traditional medicine with the western, so as to preach charities".
