Relevant Context of Optimal Language in Consecutive Interpreting

Relevance Theory is a theory of communication and cognition developed by Sperber and Wilson in pragmatics.The author attempts to apply Relevance Theory to consecutive interpreting.It is believed that interpreting is an inferential-ostensive communication on the basis of relevant context.It is discussed in this paper how interpreters make use of Optimal Relevance to choose optimal interpretation,and to achieve adequate effects through no unjustifiable effort.
