Moral Reflections Introduced by SARS

The breakout of SARS not only causes people to explore the disease from medical aspect, but also urges people to think about the life patterns, behaviour patterns and so on from moral aspect. Facing the acute epidemic situation, citizen's rights and duties should be unified in a higher level; occupational obligations should have a higher standard and be the first choice; at the crisis moment of national calamity, great significance should be attached to the national interest and the demand of people in the pursuit of economic interest; the prerequisite for self-protection should be no harm to others; and environmental morality should be the essence for the survival of human beings.
