| Abstract: | This paper holds the opinion that Shakespeare wrote 10 historical plays by drawing raw materials of literature and art from various historical events. He expressed his political ideal by using the past to indicate the present. With vivid as well as ingeniously conceived plots and strongly artistic appeal, his historical plays have produced a profound influence on the development of European literature. |
