《儒将张俊》是一部乡土史学新著，涉及湘军和甘军平定西北叛乱诸问题，提供了不少新史料和新见解，但主导观点仍然沿袭着民国暨新中国以来的正统看法，认为左宗棠、刘锦堂、董福祥、张俊等平定陕甘回民起义有罪。其实有大量史实证明这种一向政治正确兼学术正确的正统观点有误，应该有所反思，因为它既不合历史的实际，也不合中华民族大家庭的共同利益。

"Noting on the Historical Experience":A Review of A Refined General of Zhangjun and Other Issues in Modern Northwest History

A Ref ined General of Zhangjun is a new historical book ,involving pacifying northwest re-bellion by the armies from Hunan and Gansu .Although it provides a lot of new materials and new insights , the dominant views still carry on the orthodox views of thinking Zuo zongtang ,Liu Jintang ,Dong Fuhsiang and Zhangjun were guilty in pacifying the uprising of Hui-nationality in Shanxi and Gansu .However there are a large number of facts prove that this idea w hich seems politically correct and academically right is actually wrong .It＇s worthy being reflected because it was neither loyal to the actual history ,nor to the common interests of Chinese nations .
