A Comparative Study of Chinese and Western Traditions in Voluntary Service

The differences of development pattern of Chinese and Western volunteer service result from a number of facts ,among which different traditions manifest the diversity chiefly in both their natural and social conditions .Diverse ideologies and performances in voluntary service have emerged from different processes throughout history .Consequently ,the Chinese and Western voluntary services diversify from each other in their service subject and service modes ,which have exerted a profound influence on the development of their voluntary service today .It is very essen-tial that we pay much attention to borrow some of the advantageous elements from the western traditions when we promote the development of the modern voluntary service in China .
