论隆吐山战役及其在中国近代史上的地位

1875年以后,英帝国主义根据《烟台条约》中的有关条款,不断派人以游历、通商的名义,欲染指我国西藏地方。1886年,为阻止英国人入侵,西藏地方军队在隆吐山设卡,但英帝国主义诬称藏军越界设卡,挑起战端。为维护我国领土和主权的完整,西藏僧俗民众万众一心、奋起抵抗,掀起了轰轰烈烈的第一次抗英斗争。隆吐山战役虽以失败告终,但对近代以来西藏地方和与中央政府间的关系产生了深远的影响。

The Battle in Longtushan and Its Significance in Modern Chinese History

The English imperialist constantly sent persons to Tibet in the name of touring or business after the 'Treaty of Yantai' to have a finger in the pie. The local troop of Tibet set up pass at Longtushan to prevent the English invasion but the English imperialist inurbanely said that the Tibetan troop set up pass beyond the mark hence launched fight.To save the territory and sovereignty,monks and ordinary people rose up to fight against the invaders.This is the first fight against English invaders.Although the battle in Longtushan was finally defeated,it had a profound influence upon the relation between the local government of Tibet and the central government.
