垓下聚遗址当在濠城东北二十余里处

《史记》本纪与世家记载的公元前202年楚汉相争最后决战发生在垓下毋庸置疑。两汉人士也从无疑义。《汉书.地理志》及汉魏旧注均认定垓下乃沛郡国下属的聚邑,与陈郡无涉。《史记正义》所主垓下＂在亳州真源县东十里说＂无文献根据,且自相矛盾,不可采信。从《汉书.地理志》本注体例可知垓下聚与城属于不同层级,决非同地。近年安徽固镇县濠城镇北＂霸王城＂（原名圩里村）考古发掘成果,证实此处为＂大汶口文化最早的遗址＂,亦为秦汉城遗址,具有重大历史文化价值;但认定即垓下聚遗址,既与汉魏权威文献违戾,亦有移花接木之嫌,恐难以成立。据唐《元和郡县志》及宋《太平寰宇记》的记载,垓下聚遗址应在濠城镇东北二十余里处探寻。

Site of Gai Xia Ju Should Be Located more than Twenty li Northeast of Hao Cheng

It is an undeniable fact that the decisive battle in the war between Chu and Han took place in Gai Xia.The Geography of The Book about Han and various old notes in Han and Wei all maintain that Gai Xia was a residential district subordinating to Jiao Guo of Pei Jun,and was irrelevant with Chen Jun.As the statement made by Zheng Yi on Shi Ji that Gai Xia is "located ten li from the east of Zhen Yuan County of Bo Zhou" is supported by no historical documents and self-contradictory as well,it is therefore unbelievable.From the notes of The Geography of The Book of Han themselves we can see that Gai Xia Ju and Jiao Cheng do not refer to the same place.Archaeological discoveries in recent years about "Ba Wang Cheng",north of Hao Cheng,have proved that it is the "earliest site of Da Wen Kou culture",and also the site of Jiao Cheng of Qin and Han periods.But the conclusion that it is the site of Gai Xia Ju seems to be quite strained and hardly acceptable.According to the History of Yuan He Jun County of Tang Dynasty and Tai Ping Huan Yu Ji of Song Dynasty,the site of Gai Xia Ju should be searched for more than twenty li from the northeast of Hao Cheng Zhen.
