| Abstract: | The emergence of Institutional Research（IR） indicates a major turning point in higher education research,but at the same time,it confronts multiple challenges which focus on the construction of theory in IR.There is no doubt that IR needs theoretical guidance and intervention.The most suitable theory is the middle-range theory and qualitative research can be used as the basic path for the construction of theory in IR. |
