Abstract: | The way in which the qualities of neighborhoods are perceived is an important environmental factor that affects independent living and life satisfaction during old age. The aim of this study was to include the elderly as active participants in society. How environments are planned and built has an impact on independent coping and inclusion. Involving elderly in the planning and assessment process of developing local neighborhoods is important. Accessible housing and local service networks—private, public, and third sector—promote aging in place. Cross-sector collaboration within city services is important for planning user-friendly living environments in an integrated way. |
