A Review of Yunnan's Preferential Policies in Ethnic Education since the 1980's

Because of language and cultural differences, geographical remoteness and poor economic income, Yunnan ethnic students are difficult to obtain more and better educational opportunities. The implementation of preferential policies in ethnic ed- ucation helps improve this situation. The policies that have been carried out include four parts, full - time and part - time board- ing school construction in primary education stage; subsidies and free fee policies, and selection of students to share high - qual- ity education resources; the organization and practice of bilingual teaching; the opening of ethnic class and preparatory classes in secondary and higher education stages, enrollment preferential policies, directional enrollment; and preferential policies for teachers in minority and remote areas.
