| Abstract: | Wrong and inadequate translation of public signs has long been a problem in constructing bilingual environment.The thesis aims at classifying the most prominent mistakes made in translating public signs through a case study as well as analyzing causes of the typical mistakes.The author attempts to propose some standard translation of public signs with regard to their functions and stylistic conventions,meanwhile stresses that translators should deal with this special genre of translation with earnest. |
