The Commentary on Mill's Liberalism

The liberalism of Mill was influenced by earlier utilitarianism,which he constantly amended afterwards.His thought was based on the ethical standpoint of utilitarianism,and pursuing maximal interests of the vast majority was its ultimate value.He detailedly expounded the nature and limits that society could legitimately exert its power on individual,namely,dividing the bound between society and indivadul,thus giving prominence to the development of personality for social welfare.Representative government was the guarantee of liberty.
