T.S.Eliot's Four Quartets is known as a Modernist classic with a perfect combination of poetry and music.Eliot has presupposed the musicological concept of "four quartets" in his idea of composition.The present paper holds that the thematic signification of Four Quartets is realized by way of such music techniques as polyphony,counterpoint,harmony and variation.Therefore,only a careful and subtle investigation,first and foremost,both of this work's musical thematic structure and its use of music devices can successfully achieve a thorough understanding of its aesthetic value.
