论词的横组合关系和纵聚合关系与英语写作

目前,中国的英语写作教学很少涉及词的横组合关系和纵聚合关系,而学生在英语写作中所犯的错误大多与词的组合和选择有关.鉴于上述情况,本文从意义上的搭配、感情色彩上的搭配和语体色彩上的搭配讨论了词的横组合关系,从同义词和上下义关系词讨论了词的纵聚合关系,建议英语写作教师重视词的横组合关系与纵聚合关系的教学,从而增强学生对词的组合和选择的敏感性,从根本上提高学生在英语写作中的措辞能力.

On Syntagmatic and Paradigmatic Relations and English Writing

Syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations between words are seldom covered in the present English writing teaching in China; however, majority of the mistakes the Chinese students have made in English writing are related to collocation and choice of words. In view of the above- mentioned facts, this paper discusses syntagmatic relation in terms of conceptual meaning collocation, affective meaning collocation and stylistic meaning collocation, as well as paradigmatic relation in terms of synonym and hyponymy, and suggests that the teachers of English writing attach importance to the teaching of syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations to heighten the students' writing ability.
