近代湖南绅士的政治参与渠道

近代中国社会由于内忧外患的双重打击,中央集权的专制统治功能受到了严重削弱,各级官府行使权威锐减,清政府为了巩固自己的统治,不得不有限地开放绅士参政的渠道,利用他们的乡土权威,来维护地方的社会秩序。湖南作为湘军的故乡,绅权政治较其它各省特殊,绅士参政的渠道也较其它各省优越,从而造成了湖南绅权大于官权的反常局面。

On the Political Participation Channels of Modern Gentry

As the native place of Xiang Army, the gentry politics in Hunan is particular. The political participation channels of the gentry in Hunan are superior to that of other provinces. Thus the abnormal situation in Hunan that the gentry's power is stronger than the officials' comes into being.
