| Abstract: | There are a large number of animal terms in the English language.Through a semantic classifi- cation of the metaphorical animal terms,this paper makes both an analysis and a summary of the func- tions of those semantic-shifted metaphorical animal terms,the conditions in which their meaning can be metaphorically shifted as well as the functional differences displayed before and after the semantic meaning of the animal terms is shifted metaphorically. |
