Datong,as an important fortress in the Han Dynasty,the capital of the Beiwei Period,a provisional capital of Liaojin,and an important military city both in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty,has accumulated a wealth of cultural relics.The exploration and practice of the conservation and rejuvenation of this famous historical city could be summed up as ’Six From-tos’: from the transformation of the old district to the conservation of the ancient site;from the protection responsible by each institution to overall planning;from contradiction to harmony;from cultural frauds to true restoration;from treating the project as a burden to industry innovation;from oblivion of individuality to uniqueness.The project is a combination of the spirit of the times and creation of a unique city.
