县城经济在我国国民经济中处于沟通城乡、联系工农、宏观与微观结合的枢纽地位。它除了具一般的区域经济的共性外，还有其农业主导性、乡镇企业私营经济优势、主要通过市场运行的特点。因此，县城经济应谋优势、求实、协调和应变的发展战略，对其调控也应考虑到它的综合整体效应，注意其微调性、时效性和直接性；而开好经济分析会、部门协调会、现场办公会乃不失为调控经济，化解矛盾，解决困难的有效办法。

County-town economy serves as a centre to link town with country, to keep workers in contact with farmers and to unite macro-industry with micro-industry. Apart from the generality that any ordinary local economy has, county-town economy is agriculture-dominated, favoured with township enterprises and private business, and market-oriented. Therefore, county-town economy should seek advantages, realities, coordination and flexibility to develop itself. Regulation of it should be beneficial to its overall effect in micro adjustment, time limit and directness. It is also an effective way to regulate economy, mediate disputes and overcome difficulties if meetings of economic analysis, department coordination and on-the-spot administration are often held.
