社会成员共同分享全部财富是东西方社会都努力追求的一个目标，其实现途径之一即是慈善事业。西方的慈善观建立在严格的私有财产基础上，即财富共享的前提是私人所有，这使得西方的慈善事业获得了一个有力支撑点。相比较而言，中国传统社会中私有财产观念的淡漠，使得我国慈善事业的进一步展开受到了一定影响。
