浅谈徐继畬与福州神光寺事件

徐继畬在鸦片战争时调署汀漳龙道，在漳州前线积极抗英。在担任福建巡抚兼署闽浙总督期间，他主动了解外情，编撰《瀛寰志略》，向国人介绍世界大势，属于林则徐一派能够“开眼看世界”的开明士人。咸丰初年，徐继畬尽管在处理神光寺事件上有可訾议之处，但他并无媚敌妥协的主观动机，又能积极主动地考察外情，对中外大势保持着清醒而理智的头脑。这在当时多数人都处于混混噩噩之状态的官场上，是颇为难能可贵的。
