试论近代江南市镇的城市化

明清时期，在农村商品经济发展的基础上，江南市镇生成一种自然演进的城市化发展形态。这种城市发展形态建立在商业贸易和商品化农业、小手工工业基础之上，是一种原生型城市化。近代以来，市镇也面临着向近代化的转型。由于一些原因，近代市镇没能够向大城市方向发展，大多成为了依附于大城市的城镇。中国的城市化没有选择市镇型的发展道路，而是选择了一条近代化的城市发展模式。

Comment on urbanization of Jiang Nan towns in the modern times

On the Ming and Qing Dynasty ,with the development in rural area commodity economy ,one kind of natural urbanization as the form was all over the southern part of the Yangzi area. This town formation builds on the foundation of commerce trade, the commercialization agriculture, and minor handwork industrial. It＇s a kind of original shape urbanization. Over the modern times, towns are also confronting the transform. Since certain cause, traditional towns have not been able to develop to big cities, have mostly become cities and towns attaching themselves to a big city. Chinese urbanization does not choose the path which is from towns to cities, and choose a develop pattern that the new typical cities development on modern times.
