俚语虽不规范，然而现代美国人不仅常用于电影、电视、报刊及非正式场合，且日渐广泛。本文试从不同的侧面对其部分常用词语的语义特色和修辞特色作一些分析、比较，以促进对现代美国俚语之奇情异趣的了解与研究。

On The Semantic and Rhetorical Features of American Slang

Slang is rarely the first choice of careful writers or speakers or anyone attempting to use language for formal, persuasive, or business purposes. Nonetheless, espressions that can be called slang make up a major part of American communication in movies,television, radio, newspapers, magazines and informal spoken conversation. This paper looks at the meaning and usage of frequently used slang espressions in the United States. An attempt is also made to demonstrate their characteristics and variations.
