| 摘 要： | 乔治·爱略特的名著《弗洛斯河上的磨坊》的结局中,麦琪的死是主人公难以挣脱的血缘锁链带来的毁灭性破坏,也是主人公全力追求一种高尚的道德理想和这种道德理想的狭隘性和片面性导致的悲剧。麦琪的死是完整传统悲剧结构不可少的一部分。

| Abstract: | This article deals with the result of the masterpiece " Mill on the Floss" written by George Eliot and the decisive factors which lead to the tragic ending of the heroine. It is the inextricable consanguinity fetter that causes Maggie, the heroine's death. It is also partly due to the parochial and one - sided view of the lofty moral ideal unflaggingly pursued by Maggie. Maggie' s death is an indispensable part of a complete traditional tragedy. |
