Gambling and the Society of Guangdong in the Late Qing Dynasty

Focusing on the phenomenon of gambling in Guangdong in the late Qing dynasty,the article attempts to make an analysis on the causes to the government's open and banning policies of gambling in this period,and to study the major gambling forms as well as the consequences thus caused.By such a study the article intends to reflect the social condition of Guangdong in this historical transitioning period from a different perspective.
