Abstract: | This research addresses the question of how one's ability to discriminate between two Poisson process models is affected by the relative behavior of the respective intensity functions involved. One sampling strategy studied involves observation of the process up to the k-th occurrence time, tk. Another is to observe the process up to a fixed time T. The error probabilities for these two approaches are analyzed as k and T, respectively, tend to infinity. |
