"十八星旗不代表十八行省"质疑

辛亥革命前，一部分革命党人在狭隘的民族主义思想的影响下，将东三省、内外蒙古、新疆、西藏、青海在内的广大疆域排斥在中国领土之外，只想在汉族传统疆域十八行省恢复建立汉族国家。十八星旗就是这种思想的产物，这是由于资产阶级革命党人受阶级、思想的局限性使然。虽然它与“五族共和”的精神相悖，但在当时十八星旗仍然起到了号召人民起来推翻清王朝统治的巨大作用，是一面革命的旗帜。

Before the Revolution in 1911, some bourgeois revolutionists who had been influenced by the narrow nationalism strove to resume the sovereignty of Han over the 18 provinces that have conventionally been populated by Han people, in an attempt to exclude the wide area of the three provinces in northeast China, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Tibet and Qinghai. This explains how the 18 - star- flag came into be-ing. It shows the confinement of the bourgeois revolutionists to their own class interesi. Despite its conflicts with the spirit of Democracy of Five Peoples , it played an important role in calling up people to overthrow the Qing Dynasty and hence acted as a revolutionary flag in that historical period.
