He took Xi Xiang Ji as "writing of heaven and earth", and made a fully acknowledgement of its great value in literature. He also revealed that the characters and incidents in Xi Xiang Ji were rooted in the "natural heaven and earth" in human social life. He focused on the inevitable feelings between talented young men and pretty women, which was the obvious betraying of feudal disciplines.
