| 摘 要： | 严复对中国的道家思想比较关注。他认为《老子》《庄子》与近代西方的科学知识有相通之处;而且其中亦含有西方的民主与自由观念。文章以为,严复对道家思想的误解不是他的学术能力之不足所致,而是他的社会政治理想与他所处的社会背景所导致的必然结果。

| Abstract: | Yan Fu attaches great importance to Taoism. He believes that Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi share remarkably with modern western science, and that both of them promulgate democracy and liberty. It is stated in this paper that Yan Fu's misunderstanding of Taoism is not caused by his deficiency in academic ability, but is undermined by his social ideal and the social background. |
