An Analysis of the Mechanism for Forming Technology Consortia

Employing the quantity analysis method, this article gives a quantitative account to the formation process and stability of technology consortia featured by their technology exchanges and R&D information mutuality. The market incentive mechanism with pursuing for profits and gaining competition superiority as its characteristics, tend to enable the enterprises to go in for technology exchanges and R&D information mutuality. By using models, this paper proves that the expected profits in the enterprises outside of technology consortia is lower than those of enterprises inside the consortia and that technology consortia possess more stability than the Price Cartel.
