The Reproduction of Classical Verse Consisting of Pure Noun Images in English Translation

The reproduction of classical images is the key point in Chinese-English translation.The reproduction of verse consisting of pure noun images is a difficult point in the course of image translation.This paper,based on theory and by analyzing and comparing some typical translation examples of verses consisting of pure noun images,points out that the translation of classical verse consisting of pure noun images could not simply be the arrangement of nouns.It requires the translator to de-construct the juxtaposition of images by the intervention of intersubjectivity,reveal the dynamical relevance hidden behind the juxtaposition of nouns,and re-construct it according to characteristics of English language,making the translation accord with English readers' aesthetic habits and requirements,to achieve the effect "likeness in spirit" with the original.Only such translation works deserve to be regarded as superior ones.
